Its been a long time since we’ve done a 50 Shades post. In the absence you’ve only missed a shitty fuji that got BANNED, maybe we’ll post it in the future.

Looking back to the Volume 10 you may recall the shogun with double brakes. Ruben rediscovered this whip, which looks extra baddasa because it sports a scrapped off decal sporting the word “gun”.

ha he In this episode you will see a unique double brake, not available at any retailer near you.

And here is the current brake set up. A single caliper simply wasn’t providing enough stopping power. Does it work. Ruben says “Of course it works!” “It took me like two and a half hours and I love it”

Note the gusset used to attach the two brakes. Talk about upcycling ingenuity When someone inquired about the length of the pair of cables Ruben insisited “I use the cables to eternity dude.”

AMigos, I am especially honored to have been able to present to you the 10th Volume of 50 Shades of Ruben.  Much to our surprise, (and we are very proud to say), there weren’t even 10 different bikes to document this past season.  Fortunately for you, we’ve got a backlog of jah-knows-how-many episodes just waiting to be oogled over by the infinite cybernet.

The mallet craftsmanship coming out of our favorite polo guru has been simply exquisite. In this episode we see a Shogun that has been spotted at Boston Bike Polo only a handful of times. It is rumored to be lurking in Medford somewhere. You will see it is carefully rigged with a dual-pull lever, and a shiny new rear wheel.  The fresh braking setup was adorned with an equally impressive new mallet.  Complete with a  hitting surface and grip borrowed from a crutch, and adorned with a rad-cap this baby is held together by what was left of a ski pole basket. The following may warp you’re outlook on polo forevermore.

 

HOLY SH*%#TT!!! This is lightest mallet we have ever held! Ruben insists it is still in prototype mode, but we like where its headed.

Flash back to April fools. On April 1, 2013, this porteur arrived fresh off of the streets of downtown Boston. “Don’t worry it comes off.” -Ruben

Ruben’s been on his shiny and white France Sport for a couple weeks. He admits Sunday was the first day of polo he’s played on this baby. It seemed to treat him well and hopefully it stays around to continue logging goals.

During the workday you’ll also see a custom rear flame fender to match the front.

This sunday Ruben showed up with a legit (car) stereo, that shit can crank! All it needs is a better set of speakers. He also brought along a new mallet with some next level mallet head attachment innovation. Feast your eyes!

Sunday was filled with a lot of hype for Tropical Storm Sandy. The weather was shifting, the wind was howling but was no match for Rubens newest sound system.

On Friday October 12 Boston Bike Polo threw a fundraising party to raise funds for the upcoming tournament. Everyone was getting fully torqued, including Ruben, who showed up pre-torqued packing a new Ruben Cube for sound and some dope riser bars. Check it out:
